Creating a Poster:

A research poster is a visual communication tool that allows you to present your research in a clear, concise, graphic format. At a conference, the researcher stands by the poster display while other participants can come and view the presentation and interact with the author. Tips on creating a research poster. Answer these three questions:

  • 1. What is the most important/interesting/astounding finding from my research project?
  • 2. How can I visually share my research with conference attendees? Should I use charts, graphs, photos, images?
  • 3. What kind of information can I convey during my talk that will complement my poster?

Each presenter will have a net usable space in portrait/vertical format that measures 6 feet wide x 3 feet high in which to exhibit their poster. The boards will be numbered, and each presenter will be assigned a spot.

Posters should be set up between 8:00am and 9:00am on Friday, May 6, 2016, and remain on display for the duration of the research day until 3:30pm. Poster mounting supplies (Velcro strips) will be supplied on site by a volunteer. Staples, pins, and double-sided tape may not be used. You may also wish to bring along copies of your summary or abstract to distribute (be sure to include your complete mailing address and email if you wish additional comments).

Presenters should be available at their poster between 1:00pm and 2:00pm to meet viewers, and talk with judges.
